Biomedical Engineering

Most people with profound neuro-disabilities spend much of their time either in bed or seated in a wheelchair. Our Biomedical Engineering team can build bespoke equipment to help a patient achieve optimal comfort and functional ability wherever they are.

How we help
In conjunction with our specialist team, including Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, our Biomedical Engineers create made-to-measure bed positioning supports and wheelchair seating that meet a patient’s precise postural and functional needs. And, because the Biomedical Engineering workshop is based on site, we can offer immediate:

-	improved comfort and autonomy - wheelchair adaptations that aid communication, cognition, and posture.
-	choice – patients can trial many of our different wheelchairs throughout their rehabilitation, and when their physical progress stabilises, we can find, or build from scratch, a seating solution that exactly fulfils their needs.
-	guidance in advanced postural care for families and medical professionals.
-	custom-built seating solutions for patients, residents and external clients.
