Diet & Nutrition
People with neuro-disabilities are often considered to be nutritionally at risk; for many, this maybe because their condition affects their ability to swallow; for others, their disabilities may have left them more susceptible to weight gain.
Ensuring that all patients are properly nourished and hydrated is an essential part of their care; it underpins patients' overall health and well-being, and can help reduce the risk of infection.
How we help
Every person that comes to stay with us is regularly seen by our team of Dietitians, who - working with our specialist team and catering chefs - make informed changes to their nutritional intake to ensure their diet is balanced according to their specific needs.
For each individual, this can involve:
|
- |
tailoring the nutritional density and texture of their diet to suit their medical and physical condition, and their dietary preferences. |
|
- |
ensuring their diet is adequate despite difficulties with eating and drinking. |
|
- |
fully supporting differences in how they take food and drink, be it orally, via a tube, or a mixture of the two. |
