We provide clinical services to complement those of the NHS and contribute to an individual care pathway. These include a range of rehabilitation, longer term disability management and community services that offer opportunity and a continuum of care for patients and residents aged 18 upwards:
- Post-acute rehabilitation services
Acquired brain injury service
Neuro-behavioural Rehabilitation Unit
Neuro-rehabilitation and disability management services
Transitional Rehabilitation Service
- Ventilator services
Disability management and longer term care for adults with disease or damage that has not affected awareness or intellect but resulting in reliance on mechanical ventilation
- Longer term care
Younger physically disabled
Progressive neurological disease
Vegetative state and other neurological problems resulting in profound disability
These are supported by a range of specialist services and techniques and recreation and leisure opportunities.
Case-audit results indicate that our services have:
- prevented admission to acute units or long term care settings by meeting the secondary health needs of the profoundly neuro-disabled
- enabled optimal individual ability and maintained or improved quality of life
- prevented skill deterioration, psycho-social difficulties or social exclusion and according to individual need
- provided return-to-work rehab and skill development regarding new work or leisure development and community reintegration
- reduced functional dependency in the home situation, thereby reducing the burden on family and informal and formal care
