Volunteer – be part of our volunteer team
At the RHN we believe our role is to help our patients and residents find ability in their disability so they can achieve the highest possible quality of life. Our team of volunteers play a major part in helping us fulfil this role; they work alongside our staff and provide vital support, enabling us to provide greater opportunity and broader experiences for everyone.

We currently have over 150 registered volunteers who give their time, skills and enthusiasm within a variety of different placements, including:

  • leisure activities like gardening, arts, music, computer sessions, sports, concerts, films and quizzes
  • communication groups
  • shop and snack bar
  • administrative support
  • residency-based activities
  • fundraising
  • libraries
  • driving ambulances
  • events

Our volunteers are aged from 16 to 90+ and come from many different backgrounds. Some are looking to gain valuable experience while others just want to use make good use of their skills and give something back to the local community.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, we can offer you expenses, a reference and a friendly environment where you will be a valued team member. We have placements available during the daytime and at weekends – the majority of our volunteers help out for half a day a week, but you could do as little as two hours a week or just come in from time to time to help out with one-off events.

The skills and interests that you bring will be carefully matched to your placement at the RHN. We provide individual training programmes and placement supervision for all volunteers.
