Board of Management
Members of the Board act as trustees of the charity. They are elected by the Governors to act on behalf of the charity in the management of its undertaking, property and affairs.

The Board meets six times a year and consists of not less than 15 members who are elected at their Annual General Meeting. One fourth of elected members of the Board retire by rotation each year, but individuals are eligible for re-election. A formal process of nomination, induction and continuing trustee training is in place.

Mr Alan Sanders – Chair
Joined the board in May 2004 and became chair in March 2008. Alan is an experienced chief executive and brings a wealth of knowledge gained at senior management level in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Other roles include non-executive director of a NHS Trust and Chairman of The Academy for Chief Executives.		   Mrs Ruth Maxwell – Vice Chair
Joined the board in January 1996 and became vice chair in May 1998. Ruth worked advertising and marketing for a number of years before giving up work to become a full-time Mum. She brings a very special personal insight to her role because her son, Nick, was a long-term resident at the RHN.		   Mr Bob Carefull – FCA Treasurer
Joined the board in January 2008 and became treasurer in March 2008. Bob retired from Lloyds TSB in 2004 following a long career in accounting and banking. He continues to be a director/trustee of Lloyds TSB Pension Trust and member of the advisory board of ING Direct UK.

Joined the RHN in February 2009. His previous role was Chief Executive of the male cancer charity, Orchid, to which he was appointed in 2003, following a full career in the Royal Navy.
