The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability is registered by the Care Quality Commission (CQC – formerly known as the Healthcare Commission) as an Independent Acute Hospital for 260 inpatient beds and 10 day-places. It is registered to provide assessment, rehabilitation, long and short stay treatment, and respite care to anyone over 18 years old that has a complex or profound disability as a result of neurological disease or damage. The RHN’s registration reflects the complexity of the care being provided as well as the scope and nature of the treatments concerned.
The RHN is not an acute hospital. People here must be well enough to participate in rehabilitation or be managed over a 24-hour period by specialist nursing without the need for acute medical backup.
We are regulated by the CQC and have a robust governance framework that matches the requirements of both health and social services. The last formal inspection was in May 2009. The outcome was a positive endorsement of the quality of services being provided; click here for a detailed report. |
