The Compass Electronic Assistive Technology Service comprises a team of 6 EAT specialists providing advice and support to multi-disciplinary teams working across a range of specialist units at RHN including the Brain Injury Unit, Neuro-rehabilitation Unit, Neuro-behavioural rehabilitation unit, Ventilator Unit Transitional Rehabilitation Service and Huntington’s disease Unit. In addition we provide an external assessment service to individuals living with a disability in other community settings. As a team we offer high levels of professional support and supervision as well as regular team meetings. We are highly committed to continuing professional development and have a clinical supervision programme in place for all staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language therapist to extend the knowledge and skills in electronic assistive technology, specifically alternative and augmentative communication. As an Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will have specialist skills in the management of communication disorders arising from acquired brain injury, brain damage and / or neuro-degenerative conditions.
You will assist the multi-disciplinary team in assessing for and prescribing electronic assistive technology for individuals with complex brain injury, low awareness states, CVA, locked in syndrome, Huntington’s disease, tracheostomies, advanced multiple sclerosis, ventilator dependent, neuro-behavioural difficulties arising from brain injury or those returning to live in the community after brain injury. You will also participate in external referrals and assist the Compass team in service development activities.
