Job outline
This post offers the exciting opportunity to be head of a small dietetic department with an establishment of 3 other dietitians and 1 dietetic assistant, whilst maintaining clinical skills. Approximately two thirds of the job is clinical time.
Nutrition takes a high priority at the hospital as most patients have some level of dysphagia and are therefore nutritionally at risk. Currently, about 70% of the patients have gastrostomy tubes in situ, and so enteral tube feeding is a major activity.
The patients’ and residents’ disabilities can be highly complex and require a strong inter-disciplinary approach. As head of department there is therefore a substantial amount of collaborative work with other heads of department.
