The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability is a non-profit medical charity, a hospital and a home, based in Putney, South West London. We provide both short and long-term specialist services for adults with profound or complex disabilities, resulting from damage to the brain or nervous system. Through these services, which are enhanced by a funded research programme, we seek to enable people with profound neuro-disability to enjoy an optimal quality of life. We are currently seeking to appoint to one Senior 1 post within the Music Therapy Department
The successful applicant will work as part of multidisciplinary rehabilitation and assessment programmes with a possible combination of the following wards:

The 12 bedded Neuro-rehabilitation ward, Devonshire, which provides assessment and disability management programmes, including technological intervention for people with complex neurological disabilities, such as locked-in syndrome.

The 17 bedded Neuro-rehabilitation ward, Clifden, which provides an assessment and treatment programme related to social, communicative, physical, cognitive and emotional/behavioural domains.

The 13 bedded Neurobehavioural ward Wellesley which specialises in the assessment, rehabilitation and disability management of individuals who present with complex neuro-disability and challenging behaviour within a positive framework approach.

Some input may be required to the Transitional Rehabilitation Service which enables people with a brain injury to return to the community with as much independence as possible.
We seek to appoint a music therapist with at least 2 years clinical experience and some experience in neuro-disability. The applicant is required to have excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of both the Music Therapy team and the wider multidisciplinary teams.

Clinical experience of neuro-disability
There is opportunity for joint working with other therapists. There will also be supervision opportunities and administrative duties within the department.
Availability on Tuesdays is essential and other preferred days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The Department promotes a culture of continuing professional development through clinical supervision provided by the Head of Department and training specified to the team’s needs. There are opportunities to be involved in research.
