The multi-disciplinary management of saliva in complex neuro-disability

Join the clinical team at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) for this study day focused on saliva management challenges and treatment options in people with complex neurological impairments, such as those arising from brain injury or progressive neurological conditions.
The course will explore
- The mechanism of normal saliva production and management
- How this can be impaired through neurological damage
- The impact of problems with saliva management on the individual
- Management options (including non-pharmacological, medications, saliva gland botulinum neurotoxin injections, and saliva gland ligation)
The course will cover both straightforward and highly complex cases, with case examples used for illustration throughout.
The facilitators will be members of the multi-disciplinary Saliva Clinic team based at RHN including highly specialist Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Consultants.
