An Introduction to the assessment and management of communication in complex brain injury and neurodisability

This one day course will focus on the assessment and management of communication in people with complex neurodisability, including acquired brain injury and progressive neurological diagnoses. The day would benefit speech therapists who are starting out in the field of neurology or who have recently started and want to develop their skills.
The course will cover the following key areas
- optimising assessment of complex communication
- supporting goal setting
- functional therapy and management of communication difficulties
- facilitating capacity assessments
- use of AAC
- managing behaviours that challenge
Case studies will be used and there will be opportunities for discussion and sharing of ideas.
