Open lecture – Using flavoured foam tastes with patients with chronic severe dysphagia
Join our SLT team to explore their experiences using flavoured foam
This open lecture will discuss how the Speech & Language Therapy team at the RHN are using flavoured foam tastes with some people with severe dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) many of whom have previously been placed Nil By Mouth due to their high risk of aspiration (food/fluid entering the lungs).
This lecture will lay out how flavoured foam tastes can be used, people that the tastes could be considered for, risks, benefits, feedback from patients and practical considerations.
