Thank you for considering the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) for your patient’s healthcare needs. Based in Putney, we specialise in providing exceptional care and support for individuals with complex neurological conditions, including those requiring specialist Level 1 and “a rehabilitation (Brain Injury Service) and continuing care for patients with longer-term specialist care needs.
Please read the information below on how to make a referral. We aim to generate a response to your enquiry in one working day.
Neuro-behavioural Service:
The Neuro-behavioural Service at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability is dedicated to providing exceptional care for individuals with behaviours that challenge following brain injury. We offer short term behavioural rehabilitation as well as longer stay for those that require placement for their behaviour that challenges. Our highly-skilled multi-disciplinary team support people with a diverse range of complex conditions, including management of symptoms for Huntington’s disease. The service provides positive behaviour support, a structured environment and expert review in order to reduce support needs.

Ventilation and Complex Respiratory Service:
The Ventilation and Complex Respiratory Service at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability is dedicated to providing exceptional care for individuals with complex respiratory needs.
The service caters to individuals with highly complex care needs who require invasive or non-invasive ventilation, and complex respiratory and tracheostomy care, alongside comprehensive disability management and Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathways. Our specialised environment is designed to support the needs of each individual.

Young Adults Service:
Haberdasher’s House is dedicated to providing exceptional care for adults with highly complex disabilities acquired at birth or during childhood, offering quality care in a sensory-rich environment with accessible living and garden space.
The service offers a fun and energetic environment, whilst providing the highest possible quality of life, enabling our younger residents to access a range of activities both on site and in the wider community, including visiting bands and DJs, sporting activities, gardening and trips to some of London’s best tourist attractions.

The Specialist Nursing Home:
Our Specialist Nursing Home is staffed by experienced professionals trained in managing neurological conditions, with a strong emphasis on promoting independence and daily functionality. We are committed to improving the overall quality of life for our residents and offer specially-adapted activities and leisure outings supported by a dedicated team of activity coordinators, nursing staff and volunteers.

Level 1/2a Rehabilitation (Brain Injury Service) Referrals:
RHN’s Brain Injury Service is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by acquired brain injuries, offering Level 1 and 2a rehabilitation and complex disability management. If you are considering referring a patient to our Brain Injury Service, please refer via Badgernet. If you do not have access to Badgernet, then please complete our Level 1/2a Referral Forms.
What to include:
Providing us with as much information as possible enables us to process your referral in a timelier manner, so where possible, please try to include the following documents in your referral requests:
- Medical report (diagnosis, injury, relevant medical history, resus status, treatment escalation plan etc.)
- Medication list (routine, as required, etc.)
- Current care plan
For referrals into our neuro-behavioural services, please try to also include:
- Behavioural recording charts (incidents, guidelines etc.)
- Psychology / psychiatry notes / reports
What happens next?
- We will contact you within one working day to discuss your query
- Our clinical teams will arrange an assessment to determine the most appropriate pathway
- We will collaborate with you to develop a personalised care and rehabilitation plan bespoke to the patient
- Once the care plan is finalised, arrangements will be made for the patient’s admission
