The Assessment and Management of Dysphagia in Adults with Cognitive Impairments
This comprehensive one-day course reviews the assessment and management of dysphagia in patients with cognitive impairments.
The course covers these key areas:
- review of the evidence, case studies and practical ideas with reference to acquired brain injury (including disorders of consciousness), dementia, Huntington’s disease and adult learning disability.
- issues in clinical reasoning, decision making and risk feeding
- practical ways to involve patients in therapy and management
- supporting staff and relatives
The course is for speech and language therapists. Speakers will be members of the RHN multidisciplinary team and Lindsay Collins, Senior Dementia Care Consultant Trainer from the School of Dementia Studies at the University of Bradford who will talk about dysphagia in dementia.
