Annual Gala Dinner returns

On Thursday 28 September 2023, the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) was thrilled to host its first Gala Dinner since 2019. The event, which has been held annually for many years, was unfortunately postponed for 3 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, our beautiful Assembly Room was adorned for a memorable night, welcoming RHN supporters on-site, and providing insight into the hospital’s work for patients and residents.

The evening began with a drinks reception with demonstrations of foam tasting and AAC equipment to show first hand some of the adjustments which are made to ensure best quality of life for patients and residents.

Our guests then took their seats at beautifully decorated tables, equipped with tablets the silent auction. Items available included a fabulous tasting menu dinner party for ten, a two night stay in Venice with front row opera, flying lessons and champagne afternoon tea.

The RHN were honoured to welcome two guest speakers, friends and family of former patients, to share their impactful journeys and the support received during and after their loved one’s stays. Della Warren, Director of Nursing, and Justin Finbow, Matron, also shared information on the hospital’s services which are provided to patients and residents, emphasising the importance of donations in funding the extra therapies and activities that we provide.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, with wine and soft drinks replenished by attentive waiting staff.

The evening was finished off with a surprise musical performance from two ‘singing waiters’, who spent the event serving our guests. They did a fantastic job of getting all of the guests on their feet, singing and dancing.

The night proved a resounding success. We would like to thank all of those in attendance for their generous donations, and also our fantastic events team who organised such a wonderful evening.
