Remembrance Sunday 2019

First world war RHN

To mark this year’s Remembrance Sunday, our archivist, Chris Olver, looks at how the Second World War (1939-1945) affected daily life at the hospital. The hospital remained open throughout the war years, despite sustaining damage from regular bombing raids, staff shortages, patient evacuations and a substantial reduction in income. We will be posting a short article every day this week at 11am where Chris looks at all of these subjects, along with remembering some of the hospital staff who served in the armed forces during the war.
