RHN receives The Mary Wall Charitable Trust’s final gift

On 2 October 2017 Norman Buckingham, long serving trustee to The Mary Wall Charitable Trust visited the RHN to present a cheque of £173,396 which will be used for the Therapy Hub renovation and Drapers ward upgrade project.

The Mary Wall Trust was established in 1959, to help employees and ex-employees of Howard Wall Limited, family members and any other dependents who “through illness, loss or destruction of property or any other misfortune shall be in needy circumstance”.

Mrs Mary Marriott (nee Wall) who established the trust, named the RHN sole beneficiary in event of the trust being wound down and it has ably supported its many beneficiaries for decades in the meantime.
As the trust has been wound down – the RHN is now a grateful recipient of its support.

Trustee Norman Buckingham met with RHN Chief Executive Paul Allen, Director of Fundraising & Communications Jane Beaven, Lesley Mill, Head of Brain Injury Services and Senior Trusts & Major Donor Manager Aysen Norton.
After taking a tour of the hospital and seeing the areas that will benefit directly from the trust’s funds, Mr Buckingham said:

“The last time I visited the RHN in 2008, I was with my fellow Trustee who sadly passed away last year. It’s a pleasure to be here again and fulfilling our duty – it was very important to us to do so.”
