Leisure and Family Services
Leisure and Family Services (LaFS) provide a programme of activities so that everyone staying at the RHN has something to suit their interests and ability. Being able to take part in leisure activities helps to improve quality of life and provides meaningful activities to share with friends and family.
As we take a holistic approach to care. We combine recreational activities and personal interests as we work towards the best outcomes for our patients and residents.
This doesn’t just help relaxation, but can improve overall confidence and a sense of identity.
There are over 90 different types of activities for patients, and for residents in our long-term care, which they can enjoy throughout their day. We also take care to bring experiences to those who are unable to go out, on wards and through 1:1 support.
Our activities and resources are tailored to patients in long-term care though all are open to everyone, including families.
Facilitated by volunteers and staff, these include
- art and music workshops
- awareness of culturally diverse celebrations
- trips out and holidays in the UK and abroad
- gardening
- hairdressing and massage therapy
- musical and theatrical performances
- sports such as boccia
- legal and welfare presentations
We are also the hub for family services such as ward access cards, car parking permits and room bookings.
